ARTICLES
Short communication. A steep Ca2
-dependence of a K
channel in a unicellular green alga

in the
unicellular green alga Eremosphaera viridis activities
Ca2
-dependent
K
channels causing a hyperpolarization of
the plasma membrane. Data from parallel calcium, and potential measurements
were combined with I/V relationships. This yielded a
steep Ca2
-dependence of
K
channels with a co-operativity of 4 and
an affinity of 300 nM.Key words: Eremosphaera viridis,
plasma membrane, Ca2
-dependent
K
channel, co-operative binding.
