Cover illustration: The genus of Fragaria that incudes the cultivated strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa) displays, as other edible fruits, a great variety of colour, size and shape. The gene FaGAST, isolated from strawberry, shows a stage-specific pattern expression in the fruits. Ectopic expression of this gene in the wild Fragaria vesca changes the fruit size indicating a role of FaGAST in the final determination of fruit size and, possibly, shape.
