About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover illustration: Subcellular compartmentalization in the Arabidopsis mesophyll tissue of a 14-d-old seedling. The top and bottom images show the apparent close association of mitochondria (mitochondrial-targeted GFP, green) and autofluorescing chloroplasts (red). The central image is a transmission electron micrograph of the same material showing the close juxtaposition of all organelles (mitochondria, chloroplasts, peroxisomes, and the nucleus are all clearly visible) in the cortical cytoplasm of these vacuolate cells.
