About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover illustration: Maize plants transformed with the bean ZOG1 (zeatin O-glucosyltransferase) gene driven by the constitutive ubiquitin promoter show many abnormalities. Changes in male flower development include reduction in tassel size (top, right) and many empty florets (second row, second from left) compared with the control (top and second rows, left). Pollen formation and germination (second row, right) are normal. Homozygous tassels show various degrees of feminization and kernel formation (third row). Cobs developing on transformants are normal (bottom, right) although delayed compared to non-transformed sibs (bottom, left).
